  • After a short 3/4 mile hike into the backpacking site #1 at Afton State Park, I immediately saw these 2 deer down below me. After setting up the tent, I took off to find their tracks and follow them through the woods.
  • It was excellent fun to go down steep hills with so much powder on snowshoes. One time my left snowshoe came off and I didn't know it until the next step when my leg went through the snow all the way to my waist!
  • I caught up with the deer several times, but only this once was I able to get pictures of them.

  • I climbed into my two sleeping bags and read my book for awhile before going to sleep. I was uncomfortably warm at one point and had to take a few layers off.
  • The sky was clear the next morning and the sun was shining bright!
  • I like these next few better in black and white.
