  • The sun sets on our first night. Hopefully the anchor is set well! It can be a bit nerve-wracking as one tries to sleep as if the anchor were to drag at all the boat could quickly run aground.

  • The next morning we had no wind. We raised anchor and motored on over to Raspberry Island just a few miles away.

  • We anchored off Raspberry Island and then hopped in the dinghy to go explore. Raspberry has a beautiful beach, sandspit (a beachy peninsula) and a hiking trail that leads to a lighthouse.

  • This was an intriguing tree here - people leave rocks hidden within its drift-roots in a sort of wishing tree manner.
  • We took the hiking trail to the lighthouse.
  • The lighthouse was staffed and this park employee gave us a tour. He did a great job explaining what life was like for the lighthouse family to the kids.

  • We played a game of croquet after touring the lighthouse!
  • After arriving back at the boat we jumped in for a swim! Mid August in the Apostles Lake Superior is quite swimmable. The water is absolutely amazing. Crystal clear and fresh!

  • We decided to head to York for the night. Here we are raising the main to try and sail with the little wind that we had.
  • York has an amazing beach! Only reachable by boat of course, which really cuts down on the number of people!

  • Bryce may have skipped 1000 rocks on this trip!
