  • We raised the anchor and got going early. Wind picked up to 8 to 10 knots. We sailed east towards Cat Island. Looped around the north side of Cat and then around the north side of Outer and came down the east side of Outer.
  • South Twin close by with the north side of Cat in the distance.

  • This was our longest sailing day by far. Here we are approaching Outer Island.

  • The Outer Island lighthouse. I had never been to this side of Outer. Being the outermost island, behind us stretches the length of Lake Superior. There are shoals off the norther side here between us and the lighthouse, which sank the Pretoria in 1905.

  • After sailing around the east side of Outer we had to stop and explore the southern sandspit, which has miles of sandy beaches. We anchored quite a ways offshore due to the shallow waters. We were just here for a few hours as this anchorage would not be safe for the night based off the wind direction.

  • The Outer Island sandspit! There was one other sailboat here at this time. They left awhile after we arrived.
