Sioux Hustler BWCA, October 2016

  • More wolf scat. This pile was noticeably larger than most of the others.
  • A nice place for a lunch break.

  • We saw 2 garter snakes.
  • There were several very large tree uprootings. They were big due to the rocky ground causing the roots to spread out instead of go deep.
  • An even larger one!
  • Campsite on Range Lake. We decided to press onto Pageant Lake. I've never seen a fire pit so close to the water in the BWCA... about 3 feet from fire pit rocks to the water.

  • The moss throughout the trail did a good job of keeping our shoes wet!
  • Pageant Lake.
  • Pageant Lake. No wind. No sounds of any sort, just silence. This was the most remote part of the trail. Canoers never get to this lake as it is landlocked. Few hikers ever do. The latrine was directly on the trail itself even!
