  • We started around 3:30 pm on a Thursday. It was 60 degrees! View of Lake of the Clouds from the popular tourist viewpoint.
  • We headed east from Lake of the Clouds on the Escarpment Trail. Only had 2 miles to do this afternoon.
  • First backpacking trip with Neiko. He was carrying his dog food, a small trowel for burying his poop, his 25' cord, a small water/food bowl and some Musher's Secret that we put on his feet each morning. About 2.5 to 3 pounds.
  • Bryce was carrying his sleeping bag, extra clothes, rain jacket, our first kit, Aquamira water drops and treats for Neiko. About 6 pounds.
  • Neiko was loving it!
  • We hiked along cliffs overlooking Lake of the Clouds for several miles. Our campsite for the night is about 1 mile from here on the cliffs in the distance.

  • Beautiful fall color light show.
  • Neiko's first time sleeping in a tent. With his new insulated jacket to keep him warm. He went right to sleep.
  • Packing up in the morning from our campsite on top of the cliff. Winds were very strong all night and continued into the morning. We were directly exposed with no wind cover. Tent stake blew out in middle of the night. Hard to sleep with so much noise and tree shadows from the moon moving across the tent all night.

  • Looking back the way we had come.

  • Neiko was always ready to go, go go. He liked leading.

  • Crossing the Carp river. We were happy to see there was a bridge to keep our feet dry.
  • Bryce's favorite pose. He calls it "The George Washington".
