Day 9: A quick foot break. It is a long ways down!

  • Day 9: Mount Rainier, visible from over 100 miles away on this clear day.
  • Day 9: A quick foot break. It is a long ways down!
  • Day 9: I decided at 3:30 to change my plans and to try and make it to highway 2 and meet the bus by 2:00 tomorrow. So I went about 25 miles or so this day, instead of the 18 I had planned on doing.
  • Day 9: I camped here, a mile or so south of Saddle Gap, stopping just before dark. To make it to the bus I would have to do 22 miles by 2:00 the next day. To accomplish this I woke up at 3:45 am and was on the trail by 4:30 am.
  • Day 10: The sunrise on my last day. I had been hiking for an hour and half by the time the sun started to rise. There was a full moon which helped. I went fast and was done by 1:00 pm. I successfully flagged down the bus which was a huge relief and was downtown Seattle 3 hours later.
